Enlightenment Configuration

Configuring Background for End-Users

DR17 has made significant improvement over DR16 in this department, and you now can play around with Backgrounds in a simple Menu/Point-n-Click way.

DR17 uses a special format for Backgounds, bearing the .edj extension, but it will do the conversion job for you if you intend to use a static image as desktop background. This.edj thingy is sure the one that allows Animated Backgrounds to work in E.

To assign a static picture to your background, simply do:

LMB-Click on an empty desktop "confuguration >> wallpapers". You will then see the Wallpaper Settings window. From this window, in Basic Mode, you can select either:

- "Personnal", "System", "Theme Wallpaper" or click the Picture button, gradient button.

In Advanced mode, you can define different wallpapers to suit your several virtual desktops. When importing a picture, you have the choice of the way E will adapt it to your screen resolution (Stretch - tile & such).

Animated & static wallpapers can be found on http://exchange.enlightenment.org or www.get-e.org - beware the animated ones can drag your system quite a bit.

To assign an Animated Background, you'll need to download it first into ~/.e/e/backgrounds - they'll be available then in your "personnal" tab on the Wallpaper Settings.

Shelves

Please look here [[1]] first.

To create a new Shelf, LMB-Click on an empty desktop, then "configuration > Shelves >> add" Once there, click on the advanced tab to get much more opportunities to tweak their look.

-You can have as much of them as you want

-They can all bear a different configuration

-They will appear the same on every Virtual Desktop
